Job Specification - Senior Licence Consultant
 
Supervisory Responsibilities / Position in Structure Responsible To: Licence and Consulting Manager 
 
Main Function of Job
(Note: in addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required) Responsible for providing valuable service delivery, pre-sales and licence consultancy services to our customers. You will guide customers through the process of data gathering and analysis for software asset management engagements and produce clear and accurate reports to present your findings. Ensuring the quality of projects, you will identify, handle and escalate any risks or issues that occur.
Main Duties Duties / Responsibilities
Complete service delivery customer account ownership and management.
> Undertake individual consultancy assignments, analysing customer requirements, gathering and analysing data, recommending solutions and mitigating activities.
> On-boarding new client accounts - take the technical lead using multiple resources to implement a new account in to BAU to time and quality.
> Preparation of effective license position reports across multiple vendors.
> Preparing and delivering executive reporting to customer stakeholders.
> Uncovering new customer opportunities and co-ordinating strategy meetings / workshops; to include presenting solutions from a commercial and business perspective.
> Escalation point for all other teams (data, administration, consultancy).
> Full responsibility and management of client vendor audits / reviews.
> Analysis of market changes and assessing impact on customer licensing and cascading to other
departments.
> Identification of continual internal process improvement.
 
Requirements to Carry Out Job Essential (E) or Desirable (D) Requirement.
 D Experience required: > Demonstrable experience of Tier 1 software vendor license models.
E > Consultancy experience with blue chip companies including engaging with senior management and directors.
E > Experience of performing software asset management at a senior level.
E > A proven track record of leading teams on client engagements.
E > Proven experience designing and implementing ITAM / SAM programs.
E > Analytics – the self-discipline to work through dry documentation and spreadsheets, extracting key information, analysing and modelling. Forensics and the focused detail to work through the details of a contract or database.
E > Hardware analysis expertise – awareness of the contribution importance of hardware devices such as client endpoints, server endpoints, virtualisation, mobile devices, BYOD, etc.
E > Licensing analysis expertise – awareness or working knowledge of numerous software licensing models, metrics and calculations covering a wide array of vendor types.
E > Contract analysis expertise – awareness or working knowledge of asset related contract, financial and procurement technology.
E > Software publisher diversity – in-depth skills and experience with a minimum of Tier 1 vendors, e.g. Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, SAP, Adobe.
E > Discovery tool experience, e.g. Microsoft SCCM, ADDM, Altris, Microsoft MAP tool kit.
E > Licence Management tool experience, e.g. License Dashboard, Snow, Aspera, Flexera.
E > Full Microsoft experience covering their application, servers and systems stacks.
E > Specific understanding and experience of their discovery tools / software reconciliation techniques covering their entire product set.
E > Virtualisation and its impacts for ITAM – Citrix, VMware, Oracle, VM.
E > ITAM policy and process consultation, creation or re-engineering. 
> Middleware / Application stack experience: Oracle, IBM, SAP, ITIL / ISEB / other ITAM based accreditations and vendor specific accreditations. 
 
Specialist Training Required: > Vendor certification (MCP, etc).
Any Particular Aptitude / Skill Required: > Strong commercial awareness.

E > Superb customer relationship management capabilities.
E > Analytical.
E > Meticulous and precise approach.
E > A team player who is self-motivated.
E > Drive and initiative.
E > Good communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
E > Clear thinking under pressure. 
Special Terms Special Conditions: Full driving license. Working Off-site: There will be a requirement to attend off-site customer meetings from time to time and when required.
