IT Asset & Configuration Manager Job Details This is a multi-faceted role, primarily concerned with ensuring that the hardware and software assets required to deliver IT Services are properly controlled and managed, providing accurate and reliable information about those assets when and where needed.
The post-holder will be responsible for software and hardware assets on the estate, ensuring that local support teams adhere to policy and process and that the worth of assets are fully realised across the lifecycle. The post-holder will be considered the subject matter expert for all asset related enquiries, tactically using third parties for support where pertinent. The role is based within the Service Management team, which is responsible for Service Design, Transition and Delivery, including; Incident, Problem, Change, Release, Asset and Configuration Management of the global IT environment.The team makes best use of the lower cost locations available to the IT Operation (including offshore and outsourced Service Providers, where appropriate).
Key Responsibilities -
Work with key stakeholders across IT Operations and the business to review, improve and implement asset related policies and processes to ensure that they effectively and pragmatically support the demands of the firm;

Provide advice and guidance to Project and Operational teams on matters relating to licensing, including but not limited to; identification of cost savings through alternative licensing strategies, licence interpretation and implementation, and best practice guidance;

Run scheduled reviews of the IT estate including co-ordinating hardware audit activities across all offices, run true-up exercises for Tier 1 Vendors, namely Microsoft and Adobe, as well unscheduled Vendor audits;

Ensure compliance with existing hardware and software contracts and assist with the negotiation and optimisation of new contracts, working with internal and external service providers and Large Account Resellers as required

Manage and provide support to the offshore software licensing team and act as a point of escalation;

Work across IT Operations to identify, control, record, report, audit and verify Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) assets, including versions, baselines, constituent components, their attributes and relationships;
- Contributing to the aims and success of the IT Service Management roadmap, ensuring continual improvement of all processes as the IT organisation develops and evolves.
Skills and Qualifications -
Extensive experience of Software Asset Management and supporting processes and procedures, working alongside a Large Account Reseller and/or major software suppliers to ensure efficient, effective and economic suitability. For example:
- Experience of 'True Up' activities for Tier 1 Vendors;
- Promoting and communicating the importance of Software Asset Management up to CIO level;
- Responding to external audit requests;
- Adherence to legal entitlements of use, identifying and resolving issues;
- Knowledge transfer to operational teams;

The protection and control of those licenses throughout their lifecycle;

Demonstrable experience of successfully managing hardware and software assets with a financial value, ensuring assets are identified, recorded and audited with clear understanding and transparency around purchase costs and depreciation models. For example:
- Working with local teams to ensure the capture, monitoring and reporting of hardware assets throughout their lifecycle;
- Reviewing asset data to identify discrepancies and variances in conjunction with supporting datasets;

Ensuring adherence to environmental, security and data protection standards and regulation/legislation.

Experience of creating and managing a Configuration Management System - experience of Configuration Management within ServiceNow is desirable;

First-class relationship skills, confidence in communicating at all levels globally in IT Operations, Practice Areas and Business Services (including Global Programme Group and IT Architecture) – in verbal and written format
- Excellent service focus, with a demonstrable ability to effect positive change in a global IT organisation.
Professional Expertise
Qualifications-
The post-holder should be qualified to minimum of ITIL Foundation (v3) level;

Ideally possess Software Asset Management qualifications; and

Educated to degree level
Written and Verbal Communications-
Highly developed written communication skills and capable of producing global and sensitive communications to a varied audience at all levels in both Practice Areas and Business Services.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communications skills – some form of customer-facing interaction or consulting experience is a plus.
