- Role:Principal Consultant
Location:UK home based with travel including some international ( typical 3 days per week at Client Site)
Job Function
· To support senior colleagues in the delivery of ITAM services as well as licence analysis and optimisation solutions across multiple vendors and to manage the delivery of expert SAM managed services and software license expertise to multiple customer accounts.
· To provide subject matter expertise for at least one complex Tier 1 Vendor, such as IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, and Attachmate with a working knowledge of at least a further 2 complex vendors and to provide training and support to junior members of the team as required.
· To support senior colleagues in the delivery of governance services and expert governance managed services to multiple customer accounts.
· To demonstrate a working knowledge of data centre infrastructure and its impact on IT Asset Management & Software Licensing.
· To demonstrate a working knowledge of cloud infrastructure and its impact on IT Asset Management & Software Licensing.
· To be able to identify commercial compliance, business risk opportunity and to possess the skills to communicate these to senior & more junior colleagues.
· To provide support to more junior members of the team to ensure that they develop these skills.
Duties / Responsibilities:
· To assist in the delivery of Managed Service reporting to all MSP customer accounts.
· To train & develop to become a subject matter expert on at least two complex Tier1 or 2 vendors such as IBM, Oracle, SAP, Attachmate and to have a good working knowledge across at least a further 2 complex vendors.
· To support the delivery of Managed Service KPI reporting for managed service customers as part of daily, weekly, monthly reporting.
· To assist in the maintenance of all customers their MSP ITAM tool implementations:
o Build & maintain org structures
o Hardware Asset Management activities
o Manage discovered devices & Inventory
o Undertake contract entry and updates
o Purchase record entry and licence link processing
o Bulk importing
o Licence set up (User, CALs, o365, CPU – Upgrade / Downgrades etc)
o Advanced Licence configuration
o Application management (recognised / unrecognised)
o Virtualisation reporting
o Reporting
o Exemptions

· To continually update your skillset by learning new vendor licensing rules, product usage rights and to educate others around architecture and complex licensing.
· To perform data verification and analysis across multiple data sources and types and produce clear reporting.
· To support delivery of consultancy assignments, analysing customer requirements, gathering and analysing data, recommending solutions and mitigating activities.
· To identify opportunities within and outside of customer base and to co-ordinate meetings to discuss solutions.
Qualifications / Education Required:
· 5 GCSE passes including C or above in Maths and English or equivalent qualification
· University degree or other equivalent qualification or experience.
· Additional language skills an advantage.
Experience required:
· 3 years' experience in ITAM & software license management and demonstrable experience of performing software license management at a senior level.
· Awareness of virtualisation and its impacts on ITAM outcomes in IBM & Microsoft licensing across application, servers and systems stacks.
· Demonstrable experience of at least two additional Tier 1 software vendor license models and numerous metrics and calculation types.
· Experience of supporting senior colleagues in vendor audit activities.
· A proven track record of successful client engagements within/for blue chip companies including engaging with senior management.
· Experience of analysing software contracts and extracting relevant clauses and usage rights.
· Experience of analysing hardware data such as client endpoints, server endpoints, virtualisation, mobile devices, BYOD, etc and understanding the impact on software licensing.
· Discovery tool experience, e.g. Microsoft SCCM, ADDM, Altris, Microsoft MAP tool kit.
· Knowledge of Flexera & Snow operationally & administratively including:
· Logic and advanced configuration of complex license models and purchasing programs.
· Use of Product Use Rights Library, including Microsoft, Adobe, Symantec, Oracle and IBM.
· Experience of system administration
