Summary:

Our client are looking for hands-on, experienced Microsoft Software Asset Management (SAM) Consultant that can deliver services underpinned by their solutions to current and future customers.

You will be a solid team player who works well with their peers and you will be responsible for engaging and assisting customers in deploying their products within customer environments, understanding and controlling their software licensing positions, licensing costs, reducing any risks and exposure that may exist. This you will do by leveraging industry best practices while expanding  opportunities and building more-profitable, long-term relationships with our customers.

You will deliver SAM services from our portfolio of service offerings, which may be one-off, point in time engagements or as part of an on-going managed service. Engagements will be wide and varied working with customers from all industry sectors. Services you will be delivering include Microsoft SAM baseline assessments (effective license positions) and Microsoft license optimisation recommendations.

Once you have become familiar with their products, you will also support pre-sales activities with such aspects as product demonstrations and support the Sales function to help craft customer solutions based on their products and services. Equally, you will be delivering post-sales support of  customers by providing product training and resolve customer queries.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Hands-on use of our clients’ products to help deliver services

·         Performing an inventory of installed software

·         Matching software with licenses that will include:

o Analysis of customer license contracts

o Investigation and obtain clarification where needed from software publishers  

·         Creating assignment delivery plans for your work and update reports on a regular basis as requested and required

·         Engaging with customers on a daily basis and helping them understand their current Microsoft license situation

·         Day-to-day running of multiple assignments throughout their entire life-cycle, both remotely and on-site

·         Ensure delivery of project scope within agreed timescales and budgets

·         Identify cost savings and operational benefits (risk management) and provide recommendations to customers

·         Responsible for producing software publisher ELPs and license optimisation to required standards that may include:

o Cost saving and cost option comparisons

o Recommendations for how to license, reconcile, re-harvest licensing entitlement  

·         Contribute to the on-going development and enhancements of our SAM services and strategy

·         Development of functional concepts and potential enhancements to products and services  

·         Executing SAM implementation projects, including the rollout and transfer to the customer of an operational system based on their products

·         Deliver user education and training

Skills & Competencies Required:

·         Ability to review and analyse customer license agreements and correctly interpret license usage rights

Experience Required:

·         Strong in project management, leadership and skills in business process analysis

·         Microsoft licensing and product use rights knowledge

·         In addition to licensing knowledge, practical experience with Tier 1 software publishers (if not Microsoft then perhaps VMware, IBM, Oracle and/or SAP ERP) in a vendor audit situation

·         Delivery of Microsoft SAM assessment and deployment engagements (Effective License Positions)

·         Practical experience in applying industry knowledge of software policies, procedures and compliance

·         Practical Software Asset Management knowledge and experience

 

Technical:

·         Solid awareness of Windows IT environments/infrastructure and Networks

·         Hands-on experience of deploying hardware and software asset discovery and inventory tools

·         Hands-on troubleshooting discovery and inventory issues

·         External technical and project coordination with customers and SAM tool providers

Desirable:  

·         Industry knowledge of software policies, procedures, compliance as per standards such as ISO 19770 and ITIL v3

·         One or more general SAM Accreditations

·         Software publisher specific accreditation (e.g., Microsoft MCP)

·         Direct or indirect experience of negotiating with and handling of software publishers in an audit situation
