- Description
- We are looking for experienced Software Asset Management (SAM) Consultants that can deliver services underpinned by our clients' solutions to current and future customers.
You will be a solid team player who works well with their peers and you will be responsible for engaging and assisting customers in deploying their products within customer environments, understanding and controlling their software licensing positions, licensing costs, reducing any risks and exposure that may exist. This you will do by leveraging industry best practices while expanding opportunities and building more-profitable, long term relationships with our customers.
Assignments will typically include you installing and configuring their products and so you will have a keen interest in this more technical aspect of the role. You will deliver SAM services from our portfolio of service offerings which may be on-off engagements or as part of an ongoing managed service. Engagements will be wide and varied working with customers from all industry sectors. Services you will be delivering include SAM baseline assessments (effective license positions) for software publishers, license optimisation recommendations and performing SAM maturity assessments.
A key aspect of the role is to have a reasonable awareness of technical infrastructure that aids deployment of products and be competent at the installation of Windows based software.Once you have become familiar with our products, you will also support pre-sales activities with such aspects as product demonstrations and support our Sales function to help craft customer solutions based on our products and services. Equally, you will be delivering post-sales support of our customers by providing product training and resolve customer queries.

Hands-on installation, deployment and operational troubleshooting of products
Performing an inventory of installed software
Matching software with licenses
Reviewing policies and procedures
Creating assignment delivery plans for your work
Engaging with customers on a daily basis and helping them understand their current license situations
Day-to-day running of multiple assignments throughout their entire life-cycle, both remotely and on-site
Ensure delivery of project scope within agreed timescales and budgets
Identify cost savings and operational benefits (risk management) and provide recommendations to customers
Business process analysis
Establish a baseline of a customer’s software license portfolio
Manage and deliver professional and managed services
Responsible for producing software publisher ELPs to required standards
Preparing license positions for multiple software publishers and generally advising customers how to optimise current and future license purchasing
Creating documentation and reports as required during the delivery of SAM solutions and services such as those needed for:
Operational processes, concepts and workflows
Cost saving and cost option comparisons
Recommendations for how to license, reconcile, re-harvest licensing entitlement
Creating, implementing and/or optimising business processes
User education and training
Provision of plans, progress and update reports on a regular basis as requested and required
Contribute to the on-going development and enhancements of our SAM services and strategy
Development of functional concepts and potential enhancements to products and services
Executing SAM implementation projects, including the rollout and transfer to the customer of an operational system based on products
Analysis of customer license contracts
Investigation and obtain clarification where needed from software publishers
Internal and external workshop leadership
SAM project leadership
Deliver User education and trainingOperational Support
Collaborating closely with colleagues to ensure new product features and functionality are factored into operational team processes, such as education, training and product help
Understand our customers, their feedback and needs
Ensure new product releases are well understood and communicated to our customer base
Ensure priority and focus is provided when important customer support needs present themselves, working with colleagues to identify and implement an acceptable resolution

Strong in project management, leadership and skills in business process analysis
Licensing knowledge and product use rights for VMware, Microsoft, Oracle, Symantec, Adobe, IBM & SAP Practical experience in applying industry knowledge of software policies, procedures and compliance
Practical Software Asset Management knowledge and experience
Delivery of IBM and/or SAP SAM assessment and deployment engagements (Effective License Positions) Licensing knowledge in one or more of the software publishers VMware, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle and/or SAP
In addition to licensing knowledge, practical experience with Tier 1 software publishers (such as VMware, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle and/or SAP) in a vendor audit situationTechnical Solid awareness of IT environments/infrastructure such as Windows, UNIX, Linux and Networks
Good operating system technology skills such as Windows and/or Unix
Competent at installing Windows based software products
Hands-on experience of deploying hardware and software asset discovery and inventory tools
Hands-on troubleshooting discovery and inventory issues
